As Burton looks ahead to its 50th anniversary next year, winter is already approaching – and with it comes the annual peak in orders for the leading snowboard manufacturer. With demand for snowboards, boots and bindings reaching its seasonal high, reliable fulfillment is more important than ever for both riders and retailers. Family-owned LOXXESS manages Burton’s complete end-to-end logistics operation. This will be the first season in which the new site in Bor, Czech Republic, will serve as Burton’s logistics hub.
“Our partnership with LOXXESS spans a quarter of a century – and that kind of trust isn’t built overnight. It’s earned through every order shipped on time and every peak season delivered with consistency and care. As we move into our new home in Bor, we’re not just relocating pallets, we’re carrying forward a relationship that has been fundamental to how we serve riders and retailers across Europe,” says Benedikt Pelikan, Managing Director at Burton Europe.
The previously announced move from the multi-user e-commerce facility in Aurach near Nuremberg to the LOXXESS site in Bor required careful planning and coordination. The move is designed to improve efficiency through more tailored inventory management while also supporting Burton’s sustainability goals by shortening transport distances to its 26 European markets.
“Burton has been in business for 50 years and active in Europe for 40, with LOXXESS as its logistics partner for 25 of those years. These are two family-owned companies that understand each other well and have built a strong, collaborative relationship over many years. We are now continuing this partnership at our site in Bor. We are delighted that Burton has once again placed its trust in us,” says Lars Gutermuth, Member of the LOXXESS Executive Board.
With the winter peak now underway, Burton is confident that LOXXESS is well equipped to handle the seasonal surge in demand. That also includes meeting highly specialized logistics requirements, such as the storage of snowboards. “A great 3PL understands that no two brands are alike. Instead of trying to fit a complex business into a standard box, they build an operation around what makes the brand unique – extending the customer experience seamlessly across every stage of the journey, from order fulfillment to delivery,” says Jason Edwards, Senior Director of Global Logistics & Trade at Burton.
