LOXXESS is supporting dm’s expansion into the Polish market

3. June 2022

LOXXESS is moving into a new logistics facility in Warsaw in Poland in order to bun-dle “dm-drogerie markt’s” market entry in Poland into a single facility with our exist-ing customers. The drugstore retailer has been implementing its omni-channel strate-gy right from the very beginning and is continuing its proven cooperation with logis-tics service provider LOXXESS and its innovative concept for online retailing logistics. The new hall now provides 16,500 m2 warehouse and logistics area and it has been in operation since the end of April.

LOXXESS AG, a medium-sized logistics company specializing in complex logistics and value-added services and headquartered in Tegernsee, Germany, is continuing its successful growth course together with its “dm-drogerie markt” partner. LOXXESS has commissioned an additional logistics facility in the “Warsaw II logistics center” in order to implement this market entry into the online business for the entire Polish market and to establish the logistics processes.

This logistics park, where LOXXESS has been operating since 2020 on behalf of various customers in the cosmetics, drugstore, luxury food and printed matter sectors, is located about 25 kilometers west of Warsaw, the Polish capital. This infrastructural connection is superbly located for supplying the domestic market. Warsaw Airport, which is only 15 minutes away, provides simultaneous connectivity to international supply chains.

Energy-saving LED lighting is installed throughout the facility and there is also a photovoltaic system on the roof as well as excellent insulation. Additional daylight enters the premises thanks to the skylights. The facility has BREEAM certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) that also contributes to LOXXESS’ sustainability strategy.

Everything that has been developed at the Czech site in Bor and successfully integrated into the processes was implemented in the new Warsaw facility right from the very beginning: the “SMILE – Smart and Innovative: e-commerce logistics” AI solution. All of the special requirements needed for handling food, hazardous substances as well as organic certification were integrated in the system. Transport and CEP service providers were seamlessly connected into the “dm-drogerie markt” processes thanks to the expertise already available at the facility. This meant that LOXXESS was able to guarantee that the online shop processes would be stable right from the go-live point.

Christian Bodi, dm’s managing director responsible for logistics, commented on the successful start: “the e-commerce logistics cooperation that we have seen in the German market completely won us over thanks to the excellent flexibility and know-how shown by the LOXXESS team on many occasions. We know that with LOXXESS we have a strong logistics partner at our side, with whom we can implement our ambitious project in the Polish market”.

Dr Claus-Peter Amberger, CEO of LOXXESS AG, emphasizes the importance of the new facility for the company’s success: “at our Warsaw facility, we have shown how we have opened up another successful chapter with our partner thanks to years of excellent cooperation, further joint development and growth and a willingness to innovate”.

The on-site team will be continuously increased as part of the planned expansion and up to 80% of it will involve our own personnel. This will enable LOXXESS to guarantee a reliably high level of service quality for its customers and also support the planned 2023 growth by building up new capacities.
